Beechdean is a long standing, family run, successful ice cream manufacturer based in Cheshire. We are currently expanding our engineering team and looking for a multi skilled operatives for preventative, scheduled and reactive maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day engineering and maintenance activities ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards and maximising machine efficiencies.
On a day to day basis, you will work with shrink wrappers, pumps, drives, ink jet labellers, mixers, conveyor belts, etc. along with general mechanical work and other manufacturing process machinery.
To carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and reduce quality issues. Driving continuous improvement of all machinery, equipment, and ways of working in line with business strategy is key as well as compliance with legislative, business and site procedures and practices.
Essential
• Demonstrable experience within a similar engineering role
• Qualified electrically or mechanically (or time served) with demonstrable experience to prove you are a multi-skilled engineer.
• Proven desire and ability to deliver success.
• Passion to learn new machinery and engage with machine manufacturers to build your engineering skills and competence.
• Great communicator.
• A true problem solver in all areas whilst maintaining Health & Safety and Food Safety Standards, abiding by GMP and food handling hygiene standards to provide maximum manufacturing efficiency
What you will contribute
Fault diagnosis and breakdown repairs of plant and site service equipment
Planned maintenance and Maintenance requests.
Adherence to statutory checks and GMP
Involvement in CI and Capital projects
Supporting shift manager in all failures
Upkeep of stores and all Engineering Technical documentation.
Support and coach relevant employees in all aspects of shared maintenance
Undertake training and up skilling programs as directed by business needs.
Provide effective 24/7 equipment care
Deliver effective communication Engineering meetings and handovers
Make decisions within the framework of site policies and compliance
What you will bring
Recognised Engineer Apprenticeship (electrical, mechanical or multiskilled) or ONC/BTEC/HNC
Knowledge of:
MS office
Pneumatics
Steam Systems
Hydraulic systems
Plc Siemens S7,S5
Inverters
FMCG experience, Food Industry (desirable)
Ability to work within a team and on own intuition
