Factory Mechanic

Tattenhall, Cheshire

The main purpose of the role is to carry out preventative, scheduled and reactive maintenance of the factory and site equipment. Reporting to the General site Manager, the role is responsible for all aspects of day-to-day engineering and maintenance, ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards and maximising machine efficiencies.

Responsibilities:

General tasks:
•    Responsible for the following equipment: Shrink wrappers, Pumps, Drives, Ink jet labels, Mixers, Conveyor belts, and all other manufacturing process machinery 
•    Carry out planned & reactive maintenance – to minimise downtime and reduce quality related issues
•    Drive continuous improvement of all machinery and ways of working in line with the manufacturing strategy
•    Fault diagnosis and breakdown repairs of site and factory equipment
•    Support shift managers in all failures
•    Deliver effective communication and reporting regarding maintenance and faults

Food safety, Health & Safety / HR:
•    Report any Health and Safety issues onsite to the Site Manager
•    Report any Food safety issues to Head of Production
•    Only use machinery as trained and authorised
•    Ensure due diligence onsite and operate in a respectful way to all members of staff and visitors 
•    Ensure maintenance is carried out in line with legislative, business and site procedures and practices 
•    Only carry out maintenance and repair on machines you are trained on 

 

 


Person Specification

•    Qualified electrically or mechanically with demonstratable experience as a multi-skilled engineer
•    Desire and ability to deliver results 
•    Passion to continually learn new machinery and engage with machine mabufactures to build engineering skills
•    Good communication skills
•    Self-motivated with high standards
•    An organised team player with a positive outlook and proactive approach
•    Honesty and integrity
•    Demonstrates a flexible approach to work that is focused on “getting the job done”
•    Effective time management and flexibility in working patterns needed
